You Are Royal - Galatians 4:7

In light of the relatively recent coronation of King Charles, I thought it would be fitting to discuss our own adoption as sons and daughters of God. Don’t get FOMO if you are not part of the British monarchy…you are part of a far greater family with far greater influence, resources, and legacy!

That being said, many of us struggle with feelings of unworthiness. We can feel unworthy of respect, adoration, love, and even acknowledgment. If you are like me, I don’t feel like royalty.

I’m going to guess King Charles doesn’t struggle with this because he IS ROYALTY! If he came to my hometown, there would be parades, conventions, and events whereby the common folk could strain to get a glimpse of the king.

God’s kingdom is very different from the British monarchy, but I think the comparison is worth exploring to give us a glimpse into our extravagant spiritual inheritance.

Focus Passage

Galatians 4:7 So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child; and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.

Main Takeaways

- Jesus made our adoption into God's family possible without observing all of the Mosaic laws

- When we become Christians and are saved by grace through faith in Christ, we become Christian royalty in the Kingdom of God

- As we grow in maturity as "royal" sons and daughters, we begin to walk, talk, and act like true ambassadors of the Kingdom of God (We become more like Jesus)

Prayer:

Lord Jesus,

You are the King of kings. Help us remember our royal lineage and responsibility whenever we feel unworthy. When the world attempts to discredit our family, may we behave with grace, mercy, and with unshakable authority from the Holy Spirit. As we face days of discouragement, remind us to straighten our crowns because YOU have approved and adopted us. May we walk, talk, and act like Christian royalty.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
